Last Day at Sea and Arrival in Sydney
22ndand 23rdOctober 2019
The 22ndwas a day of packing and getting ready for our departure on the morning of the 23rd. The highlight of the day was a second performance by the musician who put in such an impressive performance on the evening of the 21st.
For a second time he had the whole packed theatre on their feet applauding at the end of his performance. Sad to say, the evening entertainment wasn’t anywhere near as good. Packed suitcases had to be outside our doors by 10 pm so it was an early night for most.
A Farewell message from our cabin attendant, Andre
Scheduled arrival time at Sydney Heads is 5.30am on 23rd, and the ship has trouble running slow enough to make sure we don’t arrive too early having picked up a lot of time by missing Fiordland in NZ. It is the first time Ruby Princess has entered Sydney Harbour, so we have been informed that the Port Authority has organized a special welcome with some fireworks and tugs spraying their fire hoses around and performing a few acrobatics.
As you can imagine, it is still dark as we come through the heads and any attempt to take photographs was a bit futile. By the time we arrived at Fort Denison there was enough light to capture a few shots. Despite the early hour, the decks were packed with people who we out to see the entry into Sydney.
